Have you ever been?
We had the most wonderful family day out there yesterday, full of fun, smiles, and animals!
I went many times when I was involved in the horsey world many years ago, and I knew that my own children would love it, particularly the youngest two little ladies that are pony mad.
For anyone that loves all things animal and country life – young or old – there is something for you. If you love all things food – there is something for you too! So many wonderful food stalls offering everything you can think of, most of which are from locally sourced ingredients.
There are farm animals galore – cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, ducks and goats in abundance. Along with rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, fancy pigeons and bees! We learnt a huge amount as we strolled around, chatting with the owners, and stall holders.
The stalls were enticing, with something for everyone! Car retailers with their posh shiny vehicles, farm tractors and equipment, clothing, private school representatives, charities, pet supplies, furniture, jacuzzi’s, chalets and sheds, artwork and photography – the list goes on and on. It was incredible!
And then there are the equines.
Not only were there retailers representing every aspect of the horse world – from saddlery through to riding hats, feed merchants, through to boots and clothing. There were horse and pony classes. From the largest of the heavy horses, to the smallest of ponies, there was a class or display to suit your love. I was in my element. It was awesome.
We watched many. The native pony showing classes, the working hunter types, the beautiful gentle giants, and the showjumping. Oh what a day!
It was a much needed break away from the painting table and family time. And I know we will sleep well tonight with contented hearts and happy minds.
